Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Bottle Hound (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Bottle Hound mobile application and related services at bottlehoundapp.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Bottle Hound, you agree to this policy.
1. Who this applies to
Bottle Hound is intended for adults who are of legal drinking age (21+ in the United States, or the legal age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. Email address and basic profile details when you create an account (for example via email/password or sign-in providers we support).
- Location. Approximate or precise location only while the app is open, to show nearby liquor stores and bars and to match your “unicorn” alerts. We do not continuously track you in the background for advertising.
- Content you submit. Availability reports (“finds”), notes, and photos of shelves or bars. We strip EXIF/GPS metadata from photos before storage when processed by our upload pipeline.
- Device & notifications. Push notification tokens (when you opt in) so we can send unicorn match alerts.
- Usage data. Basic product analytics such as screens visited and premium-related events (for example paywall views). We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
- Purchases. Subscription status for Hound Premium. Payment card details are handled by Apple or Google (and RevenueCat as our subscription infrastructure)—not stored by Bottle Hound.
3. How we use information
- Operate and improve the app (map, search, finds, unicorns).
- Send unicorn match alerts within your chosen radius when you opt in.
- Provide customer support and respond to requests.
- Enforce our terms, prevent abuse, and secure the service.
- Comply with law where required.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. How we share information
We share data only as needed to run Bottle Hound:
- Service providers. Cloud hosting (currently Amazon Web Services), subscription processing (RevenueCat), and push delivery (for example Expo / platform push services).
- Community content. Finds and photos you submit may be visible to other hunters in the app (without exposing your email as your public identity).
- Legal. If required by law, subpoena, or to protect users and the service.
5. Data retention & account deletion
You can delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account), or request deletion on the web at bottlehoundapp.com/delete-account/. When you do, we scrub personal account fields such as email, name, push tokens, and unicorns. Availability reports you logged are anonymized (reporter identity removed) so community find data can remain for other hunters.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to a consumer app (encrypted transport, access controls, and secure cloud storage). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. International users
Our primary infrastructure is in the United States. If you use Bottle Hound from another country, your information may be processed in the U.S.
8. Children’s privacy
Bottle Hound is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the legal drinking age applicable to them.
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on our site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
